AUSTIN, Texas -- Metropia’s Vice President of Ecosystem Partnerships, Mia Zmud, was formally recognized last week on behalf of Metropia for the Women’s Transportation Seminar 2015 Heart of Texas Chapter Innovative Transportation Solutions Award.
Zmud accepted the award during the 12th annual WTS Heart of Texas Chapter Transportation Gala and Scholarship Fundraiser held February 12th. Together with the Heart of Texas Chapter’s award, Metropia has been nominated for the international WTS Innovative Transportation Solutions Award.
The Metropia App was selected by WTS members who recognized Metropia’s “leadership and innovation in improving the quality of life for transportation users and Austin’s overall community.”
Metropia leverages timely and relevant app data to improve citywide traffic, encouraging city government, local businesses, and end users to make more sustainable traffic and transportation choices. Most recently, Metropia launched DUO Casual Carpooling, an app feature incentivizing users to drive up vehicle occupancy.
The Metropia app’s dashboard provides users with the pounds of CO₂ they have reduced, time they have saved by making these better-informed travel choices, and points they have earned for reward redemption at a number of local and national stores & eateries. Local businesses are able to offer rewards for redemption in the app, and provide employees with a tool for a simpler commute. Agencies get a greater glimpse of roadway and transportation issues in the city to improve sustainability and efficiency. All city segments benefit from the app’s ecosystem, and advance the traffic solution.
For the city of Austin, Metropia’s solution is supported by the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority.
