Tucson, Arizona (March 16 , 2016) -- In partnership with the Pima Association of Governments (PAG) and the American Council of Engineering Companies of Arizona (ACEC AZ), Metropia Inc. is pleased to provide Social Carpooling for the 2016 Arizona Conference on Roads and Streets.
Using the newly-launched DUO Carpooling feature of the free Metropia traffic app, Roads and Streets attendees can earn Metropia rewards for leaving their own vehicles parked, or for giving a lift to fellow conference-goers. Commuting with Metropia will also enroll attendees for a special, conference-exclusive raffle of local Tucson prizes, with an entry earned for each DUO trip.
The Arizona Conference on Roads and Streets, now in its 65th year, ranks as the largest statewide event for engineers and contractors from both the public and private sectors. In 2015 alone, attendance exceeded 1500 participants and 100 exhibitors. ACEC AZ looks to build upon the momentum of previous years for 2016, albeit with a new plan in place from Metropia to alleviate the conference’s influx of traffic.
Metropia Inc.’s partnership with the Conference on Roads and Streets marks the Tucson tech company’s opening foray into large scale traffic management for events. And according to Deputy Director at PAG, Jim DeGrood, who is leading this partnership, it couldn’t come at a better time. “This year’s Roads and Streets Conference theme is ‘Technology Changes Everything,’ and the Metropia app’s DUO ridesharing feature helps us demonstrate that,” he notes. “It encourages carpooling to help solve the parking problem that plagues the conference every year.”
To make use of Metropia’s Social Carpooling with DUO, attendees can simply download the app on the App Store or Google Play. Once they are ready to commute to the conference or back to their resort, attendees simply make their way to the designated DUO area in the lobby. Staff will be on hand at the host hotel and participating resorts to assist in the pairing drivers and passengers together.
