Earth Day Festivals and Earth Week: Help Metropia plant 100 trees for Tucson & Austin

Saturday, Apr. 18th, 2015 | 12pm-6pm | Historic Brown Hangar | Austin, TX
Saturday, Apr. 18th, 2015 | 9am-2pm | Reid Park | S. Country Club Road | Tucson AZ

Metropia is excited to be a part of the annual Earth Day Festivals in Austin and Tucson, and to celebrate they're planting up to 100 trees for Tucson and Austin.

While the Metropia app offers a myriad of eco-smart features, one of the most insightful is their “CO2 Saved” tree-odometer, which allows users to keep track of the pounds of CO2 they’ve saved using Metropia’s routes. Metropia then plants a tree with American Forests for the user once they’ve reached 100 lbs of CO2 saved. Users have already started making excellent progress towards planting new trees since the Metropia app launch in March.

Considering the excellent momentum the city has generated, Metropia will be expanding their partnership with American Forests to plant up to 100 more trees for the seven days following Saturday’s festivities!

Here’s how you can help Metropia reach their goal:

· Shorten 5 of your weekly commutes with the app and Metropia will plant a tree for you!

· Use the Metropia app to plan your drive, save time, avoid traffic, and reduce your C02 emissions.

As always, for every trip you take you’ll also earn reward points you can redeem for gift cards to Amazon.com, Starbucks, Target, & more!

The annual earth day festivals will be celebrating all things Earth this year with exhibits, activities, and alt-fuel vehicles. Community participants who wish to inform citizens about air quality, water conservation/harvesting, renewable energy, wildlife conservation, land conservation, recycling, native plants, alternative modes of transportation and other eco-minded themes will be in attendance.

Metropia looks forward to participating in festivities for this year’s Earth Day, while showing commuters how simple it is to use the Metropia app to spend less time commuting and more time doing what they love with those they love. Metropia anticipates an excellent experience at the festival considering the Earth Day motto - “to the earth be kind, leave your car behind” - an excellent reflection of the Metropia app’s end goal. The Metropia app not only aims to reduce citywide traffic, but also time in the car during the commute, and environmental impact due to commuting.

Metropia will also be hosting a photo booth with fun props, and offering great Metropia prizes during the festival. Stop by Metropia’s table to say hello and help plant 100 trees.

Get started toward your goal early and use Metropia for your drive to and from the event! To learn more about Tucson’s Earth Day Festival, go to www.earthdayaustin.com/ or find them on Facebook.
