Fast forward two years since Metropia’s launch in May 2015, and Austin's Metropia app users have saved more than 650,000 lbs of CO2 and more than 20,000 hours on their commutes (if you add these hours up, that’s more than 2 years of time saved and counting!). Not only are Metropians tackling traffic but also giving back to our communities, choosing to donate their earned points to plant more than 7,000 trees and donate warm meals to the local non-profit, Meals on Wheels and More.

Metropia app users continue to help drive a #betteratx. And by helping improve the flow of traffic in our city, the growing Metropia community is helping to create a more vibrant economy, reduce commuter stress, improve air quality, and enhance the overall quality of life in Austin. And after only two years, we’re already seeing that Metropians are helping our city be a better place to live.

Metropia Mania

Two years ago this month, Metropia launched in the Austin area ready to tackle a pretty hefty issue—Austin traffic (gasp!). While a seemingly large undertaking, we knew we weren’t going at this alone. With our supporting partner, the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (Mobility Authority) and Central Texans like you-- we  were ready to make our city a better place to live.

Whether you recently joined the Metropia community or have been with us since the very beginning, we want to celebrate our two year milestone with you! Take a look below at how you can take part in the weeklong festivities:

Hosted by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the University of California at Berkeley Institute of Transportation Studies, the workshop will bring together leaders from government, academia, and transportation industries with a shared goal of exploring “future scenarios that integrate emerging transportation solutions, their estimated population acceptance, the impact on mobility patterns and the consequent grid requirements as well as energy use and dependence on fossil fuels.”

Conversations will focus on the rapidly evolving...

Metropians are continuing to make a difference in our communities by planning ahead, carpooling, donating to our nonprofit partners, and more. And our Earth Month 2017 celebration was no exception.

Metropians Donated 258 Trees during Earth Month
In celebration of Earth Month 2017, we invited Metropians to help us donate 250 trees (our highest goal yet) during the month of April through our national partnership with American Forests. For every tree donated by app users, Metropia matched it with a second tree. And guess what? Together, we not only met, but exceeded our goal with 258 trees!
